Appointments
One of the "computer kitties" at Cimarron!

We try to schedule our appointments based on each pet’s needs.  Please be as specific as possible about those needs when you schedule your appointment.

We do everything possible to keep your appointment on time, and we appreciate your patience and understanding when emergencies arise which put us behind.  We know that if your pet had an emergency, you would want us to treat your pet immediately.

IN CASES OF:

Annual and Semi-Annual Wellness Exams- Please bring a fresh stool sample to check for intestinal parasites.  Please Do bring a urine sample to check for early renal disease if possible.  Also, please do not feed for 12 hours before your visit in case the Doctor recommends blood tests.

Diarrhea- Bring a fresh stool sample.  If you are having difficulty collecting one, please call us for tips.

Urinary Problems- Please Do NOT bring a urine sample.  Instead, try to prevent your pet from urinating (by confining indoors, or preventing access to litter boxes) for 3 hours prior to your appointment.  This will enable the Doctor to get a clean sample for culture, if necessary, and prevent your pet from having to stay in the hospital while we wait for him to produce a sample.

Ear Infections- Do Not clean your pet’s ears or apply medication to your pet’s ears for 24 hours before your appointment.  This will allow us to get a diagnostic sample of the discharge from the ears.  Microscopic cytology is the best guide for ear therapy.

EMERGENCIES
If you have an emergency during office hours, please call us ahead if possible, so we can be ready for you.

After hours, please call Southern Arizona Veterinary Emergency Service at 888-3177.  On the South West corner of Broadway and Prudence.  They are open 24 hours, with a veterinarian on staff and specialists on call.  They are a full service emergency facility and able to handle emergency.   Find them on the web at  http://www.southernazvets.com/emergency.htm

Multiple Pets
We believe that every pet deserves our undivided attention; so, we ask that you schedule separate appiointments for each pet.  This also helps keep everyone from getting behind schedule due to unexpected visits.  But, don’t despair!  We are happy to schedule pets back-to-back whenever possible!

Pocket Pets
Because of their small size and fragile temperaments, and unique anatomy, rabbits, rodents, and ferrets can be harder to examine.  Sometimes, a full physical examination requires sedation.  If this is necessary, you may be asked to leave your pocket pet with us for a couple of hours.

Drop Offs
We offer drop off service for your convenience.  You can drop your pet off with us for a couple of hours (while you have some lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings?) or for the day (on your way to work?)—whichever works out best for you.  Please call ahead of time to schedule.   To minimize your wait when you drop off your pet, our Client Relations Specialist can email, fax, or verbally review the Drop Off Release Form.  Be sure to leave a phone number or email where you can be reached throughout your pet’s stay.  This will expedite your pet’s care as we will be able to discuss our findings with you as soon as your pet has been examined.

Cancellations
Please call at least 24 hours in advance if you need to change or cancel your appointment so that we won’t have to turn other pets away.

Surgery Admission and Discharge
Prior to Surgery most pets (except pocket pets) should

  • Have no food past midnight the night before surgery
  • DO take any daily medication (the use of the tiniest bit of food for this purpose is OK), such as insulin, heart medication, thyroid medication.
  • DO provide water up until the time you leave the house.

Admission Appointments are scheduled between 7;30am and 8:30am. Please arrive at your scheduled time.  A veterinary technician will ask questions and review your Admission paperwork.  She will give your pet a brief examination.  Please allow at least 15 minutes for this appointment.  To expedite this process, you may request your paper work ahead of time, fill it out and email or fax it back to us or bring it in with you.

Discharge Appointments are scheduled by your pets veterinary technician when you are called with your pet’s progress report after surgery.  Please arrive at your scheduled Discharge Appointment time so that we can discuss your pet’s post surgical care and answer any questions that you may have.

Thank you for making extra time on your pet’s surgery day for these two very important appointments.  We want you to feel absolutely confident that we are doing the best for  your pet and that you are confident in caring for your pet after his procedure.
